Recipe Four: Twin Sun Toast

For the blog this week I made Twin Sun Toast. I don't know why but, I had been looking forward to making this. I was not disappointed. I rate it at youngling level.

First, like always, start with the ingredients:
Get a piece of the sourdough bread,
then cut two wholes in the bread.
Melt the butter in the pan

and place the holey bread in the pan and break two eggs into the holes.

After it fries awhile, flip it over
Let if fry a little longer on that side. I wasn't getting the yellow for the suns so I broke the yokes. The book didn't tell me to do it but I wanted the suns to actually be yellow.
After I broke the yokes I flipped them over and cooked them some more.
Here is the final result.
 Yum!

Well, this was a great recipe! It tasted great and was extremely easy. I give it:
 four lightsabers!

Next weeks recipe is Mos Eisley Morsels. Until next time: May the Force be with you

Recipe Three: Oola-la French Toast

This week I prepared Oola-la French Toast. I recently broke my ankle so I had to have some help in the kitchen this week. My dad actually did the bulk of the work. This was an interesting recipe. I rate it at Padawan level. I will post the pictures in the order that the steps were in the book. Personally, i felt that some of the steps were out of order. I will get into that afterwards.
Here are the ingredients
Place everything except the bread and butter in a bowl
 and whisk together.
Pour into a shallow bowl
and place a slice of bread in the mixture, turning it once. Be sure not to leave it in the mixture too long or it will deteriorate and turn into mush.
The next step in the book is to melt the butter in a pan. This is where the order doesn't make sense. It should have told you to get the pan and butter hot before putting the bread in the mixture, because if you don't then the bread soaks up too much of the liquid and it doesn't work.

Now, after the butter has melted, place the bread in the pan,
flip a few times and repeat until your ingredients are gone.
 The finished product.
 Ta-da
Now for the review, I am going to give it two ratings this week, one for taste and one for the actual recipe.
The french toast tasted great, if not a little greasy. (Normally you use oil, not butter to cook french toast) I give the flavor of the the recipe:

three lightsabers.

Now, the actual recipe was not a good recipe. Even after tripling it, it only made four slices. Granted, we had a slight mishap when one piece of bread sat too long, but it still should have made more. The end product tasted good but it wasn't laid out properly. It should have told you to heat the pan sooner. If I make it again I will use oil instead of butter. Overall i give the recipe:
two lightsabers. It really could have been better laid out.

Next week is Twin Sun Toast. Until then, May the Force be with you

Recipe Two: C3-PO Pancakes

It is time to continue my journey. This week I made C3-PO Pancakes, which are just pancakes with pineapple rings in the middle. I would say this is padawan difficulty. It wasn't too hard but it does take some timing and prep.
Start out with the ingredients and pre-heat the oven to 250
Then once again, melt some butter (unsalted this time)

As it melts, put all of the dry ingredients in a bowl

and mix them together with a wooden spoon
then set aside. Put all of the liquid ingredients in a bowl
and whisk until well blended. Then slowly add the mixed wet ingredients into the dry.
Put a skillet on the stove, brush melted butter onto the pan and turn the stove on. Measure out 4 tablespoons of the batter onto the hot skillet.
When it is done on the first side place a ring of pineapple in the middle
and flip it over. When it is finished put it in the oven and finish the rest of the pancakes.
Look, It's lopsided C3-PO
 and all his friends.
This one kinda looks more like a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle than C3-PO
 Tada!

Now, not being a fan of pineapple myself, I felt that I wouldn't be able to rate this without being bias.
Instead, I asked my parents to rate it for me. They agreed that it deserved a rating of
three lightsabers.
Next week is Oola-la French Toast. Until then, May the Force be with you.

Recipe One: Princess Leia Danish Dos

Well, it is finally time to begin my journey. I started my path at the best possible point, the beginning. The first recipe in the first Star Wars Cookbook was Princess Leia Danish Dos. In other words, cinnamon rolls with a sweet Star Wars name. The name no doubt comes from Leia's famous hairdo in Star Wars: A New Hope. This recipe was easy enough for a youngling to make and very delicious.

The First step was to preheat the oven and grease a baking sheet with butter. Easy enough. Then you are to melt butter in a pan. Kinda stupid pic but it should look like this.

After that unroll a can of pizza dough onto a lightly floured surface and brush the melted butter over the dough.
Like so.
Then mix a lot of cinnamon and sugar together in a bowl.

Then sprinkle the mixture all over the butterd dough.
Looks pretty doesn't it?
After that, roll it into a log and cut the log into one inch pieces.
Place them on the baking sheet
and bake them for twenty minutes.
While the Danish Dos are baking it's time to make the icing. Place milk and confectioners sugar into a bowl and mix with a spoon until you have a gooey mixture. Mix in the vanilla extract and it should look like

 this.
After they are done baking they look like this.

Then you add the icing using a butter knife.

And just like that you're done!
Can you tell which ones are mine?
Like my new hairdo? I don't pull it off as well as Carrie Fisher.
I really enjoyed making thie recipe. It was simple and tasted great. I give this
 four lightsabers.
Thanks for reading. Next weeks recipe is C-3PO pancakes.
Until next time, May the Force be with you.
